LAST CHAPTER

together

In just over 90 days we will be flying home to Nova Scotia.  It will be the first time I have been there in almost 20 years.  This is the final chapter of our walk across Canada.  Its been a crazy journey.  One filled with ups and downs, rain and snow, fears and milestones.

There are so many things happening during the next three months, that my head is spinning with change.  My youngest children, will be graduating high school, and I will be turning 40.  With all these changes, I can not help but reflect on all the time that has passed, and the time that is remaining. I will admit it. I am scared.  I am not scared of turning 40.  I am scared that this in itself is the passage into my own last chapter.

As most of you know, I lost my father to diabetes at the age of 55.  And as I have shared many times, my own diabetes has decided to take a firm grip on my life, and I am already having more side affects than my Dad did at my age.  I guess at first its safe to say I was feeling somewhat depressed about my upcoming birthday, and what it meant to me.  But as I spent time reflecting, what I realized, is that no one knows when their story will come to an end.

So as our cross Canada journey comes closer to its close, I began to wonder what was next.  So, with  a freshly penned bucket list  in hand, Michael and I have marked out a list of new and exciting adventures to accomplish.  Almost 18 years ago we made the promise to each other to stand side by side in sickness and in health.  Michael has been true to his word.  But what I want more than anything, is to spend the next 20 years making memories that, God willing we can remember together in yet another chapter of our lives.

I am now finding myself looking forward to turning the page, and so happy that I have found a way to be captivated with each new chapter, and I am so loving the way this story was written.

I will see you at the finish line.
